This is the northern most dale in Yorkshire. It is approximately 8 miles long and has a permanent population of around 200. There is a church, a chapel and a junior school within the dale. It is probably one of the least spoilt areas in the Yorkshire Dales and has an abundance of wildlife, birds etc., as well as being one of the most beautiful areas for walking and is recognised by most people as the opening shot of James Herriots “All Creatures Great & Small”
